There are many kinds of mind-body practices that can help you relax, stay well or heal. The choices can be confusing. So here’s a quick synopsis of the main categories. 

Practices like guided imagery, hypnosis and guided meditation are often interchangeable. They all help you to relax, de-clutter your mind and immerse your focus on a positive process that’s guided by the narrative. Its impact can usually be felt in a matter of minutes. It’s good to listen to the samples we provide, so you can find the voice and style that best appeals to you.

Activities like walking meditation, yoga, qigong and tai chi guide you in actual movements to create relaxation and positive focus. Some people who have trouble sitting still or relaxing, do really well with this approach.
