A third grade teacher describes a successful program, now in its fourth year, of starting each day with a guided imagery exercise designed to help the children relax and get ready for the day.. I teach third graders in elementary school. I’ve taught them to begin every morning with guided imagery to help them relax and get ready for the day. It started out with me giving them some particular imagery generated by me (mostly taken from Ellen Curran’s book and my own imagination) - favorite places, hot air balloons, magic carpets, gifts with special powers - and now they contribute their own ideas and images to the imagery of the day. This has become an activity that the children look forward to very much, and a very special part of the day. This will be the fourth year that the program has been going on. I thought you might enjoy hearing about this.
