  1. The Time for Re-Injuring Herself by Remembering Old Wounds Is Over…

The Time for Re-Injuring Herself by Remembering Old Wounds Is Over…

    Belleruth,

This is not a question but a thank you. Your Weight Loss affirmations have been powerful for me. Not just for weight loss, but for encouraging a positive approach to life and for helping me let go of the negative energy that I know consumes me sometimes.

Also, as a musician, I appreciate how the music builds and resolves at critical moments, underscoring the message.

The first time I heard ' . . the time for reinjuring myself by remembering old wounds is over' I felt like I'd been hit between the eyes. I repeat it to everyone who needs to hear it (giving you credit, of course).

While I still struggle, I hope I am improving 'more and more' on my emotional journey. Thank you for helping to guide my way.

  2. Questioning the Use of the Word “Can” in an Affirmation

Questioning the Use of the Word “Can” in an Affirmation

    Dear BR,

I received your first audio program when I was undergoing chemo for breast cancer. The chemo nurse gave it to me. I loved it, especially the guided imagery part. I also used your surgery tape and I breezed thru the operation. Then I bought other CDs, but found them repetitive and the imagery very similar, no matter what the topic. I myself have been using affirmations and teaching meditation for 30 years.

My understanding about affirmations is that they should be positive, which yours certainly are, and in the present, which yours are. Anyway here is my question. Why do you use the word "can" in your affirmations?

  3. Can Worry Over Losing My Job Make It Happen??

    Question:

    Dear Belleruth,

I'm feeling anxious about the economy, worrying about losing my job, etc. etc.  I don't want to dwell on this, as I believe that my thoughts could manifest the very events I'm worrying about.

Any tools, affirmations, guided imagery to help with this?

    Thanks,
    Kathy

  5. What Does it Mean, that I’m Incapable of Saying Aloud that My Mom Is Alcoholic & Abusive?

    Question:

Do the words we use matter for our ability to heal, and more important than just using them, but accepting them?  There is this disconnect between what I KNOW and what I will express.  I know my mother is addicted to alcohol and uses it to numb her emotions, but calling her an "alcoholic" (ouch) gets stuck in my throat.  I can write it much better than I can say it.  I know that if any other child experienced what I did as a child I would say "that child was abused", but when confronted with the question on a medical history form, I was paralyzed and left it blank.  I can't give myself the validation I offer so easily to others.  Am I too hung up on the words, or do the words really matter?

  6. How Can You Say We’re All “Safe” in that Last Affirmation?

    Question:

What is meant at the end of Affirmations about being safe? Usually I would think of something like a protective bubble around me.  If you’re in Gaza what does safe mean? Unemployed, what does it mean? Safe conveys to me the idea of no harm.  Explanation, please.*
    William M.

    * The writer is refering to the controversial line, “I know I am held in the hands of God and I am perfectly, utterly safe.”
