Do You Have Any Audios Without Background Music?

03 Apr

Dear BR,

I am working with a client who has a musical background and she said that she finds the music (that I love!!) on your Depression CD I loaned to her very irritating!! Do you have any CDs with no background music?

Thanks! - D

Hi, D.

It’s true that musicians trying to meditate can find music distracting, annoying or just too hard to ignore without assessing it with their analytic left brains – and that prevents them from being able to just give in to receiving the imagery. So your musical friend is not alone in this! It’s an occupational hazard :).

All the imagery that I narrate has background music, although there are 7 or 8 completely different compositions from which we choose from.

Several of our other authors have depression related audios with no music. Bodhipaksa's How to Stop Beating Yourself Up, for instance, has beautiful meditations, a gorgeous voice, and no music.

There's also Amy Weintraub's Breathe to Beat the Blues and Emmett Miller's Accepting Change and Moving On.

If you're looking for non-depression related stuff, KRS Edstrom has wonderful sleep, pain, and general relaxation audios - all without music.
