A woman diagnosed with PTSD as the result of a mugging several months earlier, turns around her distressing symptoms with the help of a little Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.. I’m a long time guided imagery fan.

Two months ago, my sister-in-law was diagnosed with posttraumatic stress as a result of having been mugged six months previous. She suffered from nightmares, tension headaches, fear of leaving her apartment and stomach problems. We were becoming quite concerned about her because she seemed to be getting worse instead of better.

A friend at work recommended that she see a counselor who practiced a technique called EMDR, where you think about the upsetting thing while you move your eyes back and forth. Probably it’s much more complicated than that, but that seems to be the jist of it. She saw the counselor a total of 3 times.

To our best knowledge, she is fine now. She’s smiling again, leaves her place with ease and the headaches and stomach aches are much better although not gone entirely.

We are all thrilled. I just ordered a book on EMDR from Amazon, because I’m curious to see what it was that turned her around. I thought you’d like to know, since you’re writing a book on this condition.
