On March 12-14th at the spectacular new Omega-at-the-Crossings retreat center in Austin,Texas, I’ll be presenting some exciting new material from Invisible Heroes, my new book on imagery and trauma .. Hello.
I’m very much looking forward to my weekend workshop on imagery and trauma on March 12-14th at the spectacular new Omega-at-the-Crossings retreat center in Austin Texas. This workshop offers CEU’s for practitioners, but is also open to trauma survivors who are interested in understanding their condition and themselves better.

I’ll be presenting some really exciting new material from my upcoming book, Invisible Heroes: Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal (BantamDell, Sept 2004) - the result of over two years of research, interviews of survivors and practitioners, neuro-imaging findings, clinical trials, population studies and personal stories. I’ll be covering:

  • The biological, cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects of posttraumatic stress
  • Why imagery is a hands-down Best Practice for healing PTSD
  • A sampler of powerful guided imagery experiences designed to heal trauma
  • A look at the other approaches that, together, cover all the bases for healing trauma
  • Nearly twenty key pointers for the guided imagery narrator
  • Nearly twenty key pointers for the guided imagery listener
  • How and why posttraumatic stress is connected with fibromyalgia, irritable bowel, chronic fatigue, migraine and other baffling, hard-to-treat conditions
  • Inspiring, compelling stories from trauma survivors who were once thought to be psychotic or hopelessly "borderline", who were, in fact, suffering the effects of PTSD
  • Powerful evidence from epidemiology, clinical trials and clinical reporting to support the power of imagery for healing trauma
  • A look at critical incident stress debriefing and why it has been found ineffective at preventing PTSD
  • A working tour of brief, imagery-based interventions, such as EMDR, Thought Field Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Somatic Experiencing, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Technique, Tapas Acupressure, Traumatic Incident Reduction, and more..

So, by all means, if you know someone who could use this information, tell them to come join me at this beautiful new spa and retreat center in the green part of Texas.
