Got Something For ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)?

We got this query from a therapist looking for resources for ADHD. He didn't specify the age group he was working with, so we gave him a range of suggestions that covered all the bases. We also reminded him that recent research shows that any steady practice of mindfulness meditation has been found to help with this.
Dear Belleruth,
I am a clinical social worker in private practice. My question: do you offer a product that is specific for ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder).
Best,
Ray M, LCSW
Hello, Ray.
Thanks for the question.
First, let me say that a spate of recent research has been showing that regular practice of mindfulness meditation improves focus, concentration and centeredness in people with ADHD. So if you were to search our catalog under the term "mindfulness meditation", (http://www.healthjourneys.com/Store?s=mindfulness+meditation), you would find any number of titles that, by definition, would work for ADHD.
If you want guided imagery that specifically targets ADHD, we do have several of those too.
There is one program of guided imagery and affirmations for ADHD that I wrote and narrated, that's designed to improve concentration, focus and learning in adults, teens and middle schoolers with attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or learning disabilities (LD).
If you're looking for something for younger kids, Mellisa Dormoy has produced two excellent guided meditations for grade schoolers on her Calm & Clarity audio program, for those who use a little help with focus, confidence, or channeling their exuberance, all the way to kids struggling with the full-blown challenges of hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder.
There's a first-rate Ericksonian hypnosis program for adults and teens, Improve Memory & Study Skills: Self-Hypnosis & Subliminal Learning by David Illig PhD, to help with test-taking, recall and concentration under pressure, that's very skillful and effective.
Similarly, guided imagery pioneer Emmett Miller MD has a hypnosis/guided imagery audio for test anxiety and focus under stress called Winning at Learning - also for age 12 and up.
Most of the other programs we carry are more targeted toward older adults who want to keep their mental edge... for instance, Martha Howard MD, has an excellent guided meditation for Greater Memory and Learning Skills.
Hope this is helpful.
All best,
Belleruth
