John, who is a counselor to students with disabilities at a community college would like a short (approx. 10 minute) stress reduction/relaxation CD for students experiencing test anxiety and stress about classes.. Question:

BR, I love your CD''s - especially the sleep CD and PTSD. Thank you for your Trauma book also. It has meant a lot to me personally.

I work at a community college with students with disabilities. I would like a short (approx. 10 minute) stress reduction/relaxation CD for students experiencing test anxiety and stress about classes. We teach stress reduction in our study habits classes and would like to introduce students to some imagery and breathing techniques.

We would also like something to give to students who we see individually that would introduce them to these techniques.

What would you recommend? Or, could you produce something like this?
John Merrick

Dear John,
Funny you should mention it.. The panic attack CD that I’ve been working on (ever so slowly, due to more interruptions than you could shake a stick at!) could fill this bill, because it will be a whole menu of brief, varied stress-regulation exercises, using conscious breathing, many kinds of imagery, some bilateral tapping and some other techniques. In other words, it will be a whole audio toolkit of brief, effective methods that would work really well before a test.

We’re also thinking these would make great downloads for troops on the ground who could use these methods, not just to control stress as events are happening, but to train the nervous system to be less vulnerable to the later acquisition of PTSD.

So, it’s coming! And thanks for asking. ..and for the generous feedback. I''m delighted the imagery was helpful.
