ocdOur new guided imagery for OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) is now ready for downloads. We know that a lot of you have been waiting a long time for this one.

The OCD imagery is designed to help reduce the anxiety that drives so much of OCD, and to stabilize the biochemical swings- produced by family genetics and external stressors - that also feed it. The imagery and affirmations on this audio program are also designed to support your motivation and determination to resist unwanted thoughts and impulses -very important for getting past this - and to help you envision a time of freedom from its oppressive symptoms. This imagery will work well with what is considered the treatment of choice for most OCD a combination of cognitive-behavioral treatment and medication (SSRI’s). The affirmations are highly specific for OCD, so, as usual, if you don’t like guided imagery so much, the affirmations should serve as a perfectly reasonable substitute.

On another note, I want to thank all of you who were kind enough to take the time to email me your experiences, to help create our new guided imagery for caregiver stress. So many moving and insightful descriptions! These are invaluable for crafting something cogent and useful to people. As always, you have my heartfelt gratitude and thanks.

Lately we’ve been getting a lot of queries, asking us to supply research evidence to support the use of guided imagery or hypnosis or meditation in hospitals and clinics. So this is probably as good a time as any to remind everyone that we have years and years worth of abstracted studies, archived by health challenge, medical procedure or mind-body treatment method, in a searchable database that’s really easy to use. Just go to our Hot Research area and click on the dropdown window, which will reveal over 70 alphabetized topics, from addictions to yoga. Some of these topic areas, like PTSD, have as many as 3 dozen abstracts of recent studies. So, the bad news is, we really don’t have time to do individual research requests; but the good news is, we’ve made it really easy for you to find everything you need on your own. Our database has grown into being one of the largest of its kind.

Okay, that’s it for now. Take care and be well!
