Meet Health Journeys' Professional Relationships Manager

I’m delighted to be joining you today on our new Health Journeys’ blog!  This year, I’ll be celebrating four years with this great company and group of individuals, and also in my role as team lead of our Professional Program.  It’s a wide and varied group, encompassing everyone from retailers and private practitioners, to huge hospital systems and military installations.  It’s certainly been a thrill to get to know so many of them and their varied needs.

Guided imagery for me began back when I was in my late teens, suffering from extensive migraines and rebound headaches whenever the medications wore off.  It was a never-ending cycle. Thankfully, I had great parents who took me to an incredible head pain center at a major university, got me admitted and worked with the doctors and staff there to relieve the plague of the migraines.

There, I was introduced to things like biofeedback and something called ‘visualization’. It would’ve been just a couple years before Belleruth began her guided imagery series.  When I left the hospital, I was sent home with a case of four cassette tapes, with a kind of creepy guy’s voice repeating a lot of the biofeedback (on two of them) and visualization (on the other two) that I had heard and learned at the pain center.

Regardless of the nature of the man’s voice, those tapes became a bit of a lifeline for me as I got back to normal living.  And while that practitioner’s name is a long forgotten one, it was a fantastic feeling when I came to work here, and really started listening to quality guided imagery.  I had done a bit of mindfulness before here, and knew Thich Nhat Hanh and Jon Kabat-Zinn and their wonderful work, but I also knew that good mindfulness took a lot of work and practice.

Fast forward to today, and I’m excited every day to share the good news of guided imagery and how easy it is to use.  You don’t have to be good at it, you don’t have to even really believe in it, and practicing in the traditional sense, just isn’t necessary.  Over time, listening to guided imagery more and more will improve its effectiveness – but, it’s so easy! And therein lies the magic.

It’s easy to integrate guided imagery into what you do, and great to use something that’s drug-free, requires no set up or practice and seamlessly works into the grooves of life, regardless of personal, political or religious leanings. Guided imagery really is for everyone. And our Professional Program includes all sorts of discounts – and not just for bulk ordering. So please feel free to give me a call at 800-800-8661 Ext. 100, and let’s talk about how guided imagery can help you and the work you do.  You can learn more and sign up for the Health Journeys Professional Program here.
