My husband was hit by a drunk driver and his left leg was amputated at the hip. Any suggestions for an audio that would help with his phantom limb symptoms, like itching, coldness etc in the missing foot? BR,
My husband was hit by a drunk driver in June of this year, and his left leg was amputated at the hip. Since I had such fantastic results with your MS imagery, we were wondering if you had any suggestions which of your audios might be more beneficial, especially in dealing with the phantom aspects of the loss of the leg. There is not so much pain, but more the sensation of different areas still being there, itching, coldness in the foot, etc.

Dear Cathy,
I’m afraid we have nothing specifically geared for phantom limb symptoms, but the General Wellness imagery might be a good overall help. In addition Healthful Sleep might be good, especially if he’s not getting enough rest at night.

You might also want to look into getting a guided imagery practitioner to visit with him for a few sessions, and help him develop some individualized imagery for his situation. You can go to the website for the Academy for Guided Imagery or the Beyond Ordinary Nursing program and get the names of certified practitioners in your area.

Another technique that might be really useful for him would be biofeedback. Your local hospital’s pain clinic would probably have someone on staff, or alternatively, would probably be able to put you in touch with a solid practitioner who does this work.

Good luck. I hope this helps.
