  1. A New Ask BR and the Wisest Ways to Use Virus-Fighting, Cellular Guided Imagery

A New Ask BR and the Wisest Ways to Use Virus-Fighting, Cellular Guided Imagery

    Dear Belleruth,

I’ve been listening to you since I discovered you in 2008. My clients and friends have also been listening, since I often bring a boom box to the hospital or session and play a part of One of your CDs( that certainly dates me- the boom box and the CDs!) I think you knew my friend Bob, a social worker, and when his wife was going through a bone marrow transplant, she used your guided imagery. One social worker friend who got an immunization induced variant of shingles couldn’t sleep until I brought over your guided imagery. She jokes about going to bed with Bella.

An Ask BR on the Path through Grief after a Suicide

    Hi,

Could you please share if you have content specific to grief? My daughter's best friend (13) committed suicide.

The mother is also my best friend. I’m looking for other ways to help them both through the grief process.

  3. Healing Trauma After a Scary Illness and Its Scary Treatment

Healing Trauma After a Scary Illness and Its Scary Treatment

    Dear Belleruth,

Do you have a recommended sequence of programs for trauma, related to life-threatening illness?

I’m not sure where to start.  I relied on several of your guided imagery audio programs during my cancer treatment. I am now 2 years post-chemo and my scans are clear.

But shortly after I was diagnosed, I also became ill from life-threatening sepsis due to a perforated bowel, leading to multiple surgeries and weeks in the ICU on life support.

  4. Interpersonal Awkwardness & the Six Foot Distance Rule

Interpersonal Awkwardness & the Six Foot Distance Rule

I was in the underground garage, walking up the ramp leading to the door of my building when a middle-aged man and woman opened the door to come out.

I backed down the ramp to give them ample room to pass me (read: 6 feet or better). The man stayed by the door while the woman continued to move towards me. I gestured her to allow me a wider berth, which she did with a nice smile.

  5. Sitting Around More Than You Like? Let Glenda Cedarleaf MSW Give Your Thinning Bones a Boost!!

Sitting Around More Than You Like? Let Glenda Cedarleaf MSW Give Your Thinning Bones a Boost!!

Well, so how are you holding up during these disorienting times?  Having your ups and downs, are you?  Egads, we can relate.  In fact, all of us here in the virtual office are feeling your pain and some of our own too.  But please know that we’re thinking about you, we’re answering your questions and concerns as fast and as patiently as we can, and we’re here to say this too shall pass. The world may look different when it does, but it will still be here.

And we will all suffer our losses – some I know already have - but I’ll bet we’ll be smarter, better and kinder for having had to engage in this stay-alive exercise of thinking about ourselves in the whole - as an aggregate of humans that must survive this.

So, it may seem gratuitous or superfluous to start talking about bone loss during an Apocalypse, People, but actually it’s not – weakened bones can actually be deadly too, even if at a more leisurely pace than the coronavirus.

  9. What Can 1 Week of Guided Imagery Do for the Misery of Nausea and Vomiting during Pregnancy?

What Can 1 Week of Guided Imagery Do for the Misery of Nausea and Vomiting during Pregnancy?

Morning sickness in the first trimester of pregnancy is pretty commonplace, typically showing up after 6 weeks, with the yuckiness peaking around week #9 and usually fading by week #12, at the end of the first trimester.  It’s likely the result of a sudden rise in pregnancy hormone levels – estrogen and hCG, (human chorionic gonadotropin).

And although it’s no day at the beach to feel seasick for weeks, it’s nothing like Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), a truly nasty condition that affects maybe 1-2% of pregnant women. It means persistent, severe nausea and vomiting, so intense that it can lead to weight loss and dehydration. Some women have to be hospitalized so fluids can be replenished with an IV tube. And they feel unspeakably horrible.

Toronto's Halton Healthcare Shares Its Secret Sauce for Successfully Bringing Guided Imagery into the Operating Room

She’d been using our CDs for years and was ready for something a little more in line with our digitized times…. Something handy, user-friendly, private and portable. …and it goes without saying, reasonably priced.
