A man recently diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, advancing at a moderate rate, wants to work with a practitioner of guided imagery to help boost his body’s ability to fight this condition Question:

A friend and colleague says that you are an accomplished person with guided imagery. I have been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia which is advancing at a moderate rate. Do you work with such situations?

Earl P.

Dear Earl,

I gave up my clinical practice 4 years ago, after 33 years, because I could no longer keep it up and do everything else I was doing. However, I can suggest that you work, one-on-one, with a guided imagery practitioner in your area. You can find a certified practitioner either by going to the Academy for Guided Imagery website and clicking on their Find a Practitioner page (http://www.academyforguidedimagery.com/findprac.php ) where they list certified practitioners by state; or by clicking on the Nurses'' Certificate Program and looking up practitioners by state over at http://www.integrativeimagery.com/practitioners.htm .

Both of these programs do a beautiful job of training people in this scientific art form, and produce highly skilled, compassionate and resourceful experts. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
