Yoga Improves Working Memory

We know yoga improves balance, muscle tone, joint flexibility, ability to relax and be mindful. But it also appears to be associated with improved cognitive function. 

 Hello, all.  Here’s some encouraging new info to share about yoga and working memory.

A recently published study out of Texas State University* investigated the impact of a brief, 6-session yoga program on the working memory of 43 subjects.

Tests like Digit Span Forward, Backward and Sequencing, as well as Letter-Number Sequencing, were used to measure changes before and after yoga training.

Sure enough, there were significant improvements in working memory associated with the program. You can check out the study, cited below.

So, if you’re not happy about getting a tad forgetful, or you just want to stay sharp, you might want to try some yoga and see what happens.
